LAVRAC Receives Tree Seedlings to Combat Climate Change

At Nanjig Hotel in Kololo, the State Minister for Local Government, Hon. Victoria Rusoke, presided over the handover ceremony of 10,000 tree seedlings to LAVRAC, a network comprising 400 local authorities from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The Minister called upon the local government leaders to emphasize climate change mitigation and adaptation. She further tasked the LVRLAC Programs Officer Mr.Sebuliba Mercy Stephen to work hand in hand with the China government to ensure collaboration between LVRLAC member local governments and their Chinese counterparts

With a keen interest in wetland protection, conservation, and restoration in their areas of jurisdiction.

This donation, courtesy of Save the Wild Fund, aims to support the conservation of the Lake Victoria basin.

Accompanying the Minister is the Commissioner for Urban Administration from the Ministry of Local Government Mr Magumba Charles. In attendance are mayors and leaders from local authorities surrounding Lake Victoria headed by LVRLAC Uganda Chapter Chairman His Worship Dr. Emmanuel Serunjoji. Notably, this marks the second donation within two years, with an ambitious target of planting 3 million trees around Lake Victoria.
