LVRLACC CORE Values

In working towards the attainment of our vision and mission, LVRLAC is guided by the following core values;

  • Stakeholder participation and grassroots accountability: In all our work we strive to promote Local Authorities that create opportunities for meaningful participation of local communities as key stakeholders in shaping actions, decisions and initiatives that have a bearing on their wellbeing. This includes creating the necessary environment for primary stakeholders to be informed, to question and influence Local Authorities actions in pursuance of their best interests.
  • Respect for diversity and harmonious co-existence: We recognize that despite differences in social, economic, political, ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and perspectives, we all have inalienable rights to our shared environment and its resources and can only peacefully co-exist and develop when Local Authorities promote mutual respect and accommodation at all levels.
  • Transparency and good governance: In all our actions, decisions and dealings with others we strive to maintain and promote the highest standard of openness, fairness, cost effectiveness and efficiency and avoid all manner of corrupt and compromised practices.
  • Environmental sensitivity: In all our day-to-day endeavors, we seek to maintain and promote a safe and healthy environment and to protect the environmental resources within our reach.
  • Social justice and Gender equity: We value the contributions of both men and women in promoting sustainable development. In our work, we provide equal opportunities for both men and women, and where necessary, in recognition of the historical exclusion of women from developmental opportunities, we pursue affirmative action.
  • Knowledge and opinion values: We identify and respect knowledge as the basic foundation for informed opinion on choices, practices and beliefs.
