International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC)

The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) held a pivotal collaboration meeting with the Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation (LVRLAC), which focused on partnership development and future training initiatives. The session was chaired by Colonel Muthusi Kimwele, the Head of IPSTC Postgraduate School, who welcomed LVRLAC representatives and emphasized the importance of their discussions for enhancing training and capacity building.

During the meeting, Hon Ogindo Richard, Majority Leader of the Homabay County Assembly and Regional Chairman of LVRLAC, expressed gratitude for IPSTC’s efforts in promoting peace and security in Kenya. He highlighted LVRLAC’s commitment to protecting local water bodies and pledged to increase county assemblies’ participation in IPSTC training programs.

Major Sabala presented a comprehensive overview of IPSTC’s organizational structure. Damaris Kimani, a curriculum designer at the Peace and Security Research Department, introduced the Systems Approach to Training that IPSTC has adopted, outlining how this methodology enhances learning and capacity development.

Sebuliba Mercy Stephen, a programs officer at LVRLAC, provided an overview of the organization, detailing its mission and governance structure. Colonel Kimwele concluded the discussions by highlighting potential areas of collaboration between IPSTC and LVRLAC, suggesting joint research projects and Mobile Training Teams (MTT) to deliver training directly to various locations.

Hon Ogindo Richard reiterated the need for ongoing collaboration, planning an Annual General Meeting involving IPSTC’s research team. He emphasized the importance of sharing capacity-building information across all 47 counties and appreciated the contributions of uniformed officers and civilian participants. To conclude the meeting, Colonel Kimwele presented gifts to the guests which was followed by a tour of the IPSTC facilities.
